Are you a tortoise or hare?
Most people are in a rush to get things done and often cause problems along the way. Most people would rather be a hare (Quick, young and fast) even though the tortoise (old, slow and long lived) won the race. In the meaningful issues in the game of life…slow and steady usually wins the Race!
There is an old African proverb – “The wasp says that several regular trips to a mud pit enables it to build a house.” The Ewe people of West Africa learn from observing “potter wasps” that live in cocoon-like nests that they build from mud. This proverb shows persistence yields results. Every small effort propels us forward towards the realization of our goals. We may have travelled long distances but it was each short distance drawing us closer to our final target.
“The wasp says that several regular trips to a mud pit enables it to build a house.”
Nutritional goals? Consistency, persistence and a plan. Exercise goals? Consistency, persistence and a plan. Career goals? Consistency, persistence and a plan. Spiritual goals? Consistency, persistence and a plan.

“Plan with purpose, prepare with prayer, proceed positively and pursue persistently.”

Make a choice to… “Plan with purpose, prepare with prayer, proceed positively and pursue persistently.” I heard this was an old African proverb but I learned this years ago at an empowerment retreat with Iyanla Vanzant. It has served to me well. So I am happily a tortoise! What do you choose?
